RHLA
I’ve returned, somewhat refreshed. We had lots of meetings, saw UCLA beat San Diego St., and idled at the beach.
There were some frustrating times, when we weren’t sure what was going on, but for the most part, things went through smoothly. There was a point when we first got to the motel that the reservations we thought we had didn’t exist, but God was with us and worked it out.
Everything was close, and we didn’t have to drive far to hit the places. For the most part, it was a joy. I spent some time away from the group, walking off by myself at the beach. Now, I feel that I’m ready to tackle the upcoming year.
Pictures? Yeah, I took a lot - at least, a lot for me. I had to take a lot of the pictures myself because most everybody isn’t into photography like I am. You can tell when I held the camera out in front and pushed the button myself. I was dead center for the most part, and I thought that was pretty wicked. I usually don’t take a lot of pictures with myself in it, but I forced myself to this time.
Oh, and about the pictures, I easily uploaded them into their own set, tagged them, and showed them to my mom within the slideshow in the browser. I’m lovin’ Flickr!
I’ll be in Encinitas for the Labor Day weekend for our RHLA (college group) camp/retreat. I won’t touch anything here because the comment moderation list and Bad Behavior simply works. I’ll try to take (and be in) lots of pictures, so I can upload more in Flickr. Oh yeah, you can call me if you want - as long as I don’t break my cell phone like I did two years ago.
I went to camp two weeks ago (July 15-17), and took a team picture with my boys. It was before lights out, and they were pretty hyper. It was pretty hot and stuffy in the cabin - maybe about 80°F? Silas, thanks for sucking it up and not being in the picture to take it for us.
I’ll be at Mt. Kare with a group of 2nd & 3rd grade boys from Friday until early Sunday afternoon. Verizon has a cell tower somewhere up there, so I’m still reachable - I hope.
Oh yeah, all comments are going to be moderated since I can’t approve them for the next few days.
The circus was exhausting. Our booth we had for the past two years was broken, so the company gave us another one: Water Wars. You launch water balloons at your opponent using giant slingshots in an open “cage”. Imagine tying 1000 water balloons? It was just me and Pete, but we had help sporadically from some high school and junior high people. We can’t use that game ever again - terrible system. No pictures. I’m glad I had my iPod and boombox or we would’ve gone insane on Saturday.
Funny IM dialog this evening, referring to the post-circus exhaustion:
(11:22:47) Bryan: you sleep for most of the afternoon?
(11:22:47) Jordan: ill give you 10 dollars if you guessed how long my nap was
(11:23:25) Jordan: after church till 8
Note: Church, plus some other quick circus wrap-up, ended around 12 noon.
I’ll be working at the Kare Youth League Circus & Carnival all evening Friday and all day Saturday. Got my cell number? Call me! It’s tedious work, and I’ll need a chuckle.
The H.S. seniors and us (RHLA) had a get-together today. It wasn’t a typical food and games activity. A few RHLA people made up “The Amazing Race” game for us. It was intended to run from 1pm to 3:30pm, but we didn’t end until 4:30pm. One of the dares we had to do was drink a small 8-oz(?) cup of Tapatio hot sauce. I was physically out after that - I couldn’t really have fun, and my stomach was tore up pretty bad. I’m feeling the effects even now. I drove about 125 miles for that whole thing, but at least they reimbursed us for fuel.
Friday will be my most busy day this week. At work, we’re finishing the move by transporting the computers across the street and plugging them in. I’m stoked that Jordan and Renzo are helping me out. I have pictures I took on Wednesday, and I’ll try to take a couple in the morning of us working. Why? Because I’m goofy. After RHLA meeting and a late lunch, I’ll be going to Mount Kare for the weekend with the Jr. High boys.
