AIM wasn’t working for one of my friends, and as a workaround (until I could look at her laptop), I directed her to Meebo. It must’ve been more than three weeks ago, but she mentioned it last night when we went out to eat with a few people.

“Meebo? What’s that?”

“You know, the website where I could use AIM without installing it? I was reading the blog the other day. They’re meeting at Borders, but that’s in San Francisco, so I can’t really go.” (paraphrased)

Um, whoa, crazy! (FYI: Meebo isn’t the only web-based IM client.)

Better Xanga URLs

I have a handful of people I know that use Xanga. I don’t like that their URLs were too long. A few days ago, I saw that they changed them from:

http://www.xanga.com/home.aspx?user=username
to…
http://www.xanga.com/username

Login to Flickr with Yahoo ID

Update 8/21/05: You can unmerge your Flickr and Yahoo ID by just contacting the Flickr staff through their email form. They were quick about it, too.

I merged my Flickr account and Yahoo ID together, and now my Konfabulator Picture Frame widget can’t get my Flickr images. Wait before merging your account (if you haven’t already) so Arlo et al at Pixoria can make the changes in the widget.

Gizmo?

I haven’t used Skype in awhile, because the people I do know don’t really use it too often. But Gizmo caught my eye when catching up in my news aggregator. The rate to calling the Philippines is basically the same as Skkype, so my mom wouldn’t benefit from that. If Skype really does hog your bandwidth, try Gizmo perhaps? (Golf clap: Chris Pirillo)
