GPS
Last Friday, I went to Islands Restaurant on Foothill Blvd in Pasadena. I entered the address into my TomTom 3rd Edition GPS and left from work.
For some odd reason, it told me to take I-710 once I got into Pasadena, which is clearly in the opposite direction for a bit.
This isn’t an isolated incident. Another time, I was going to a friend’s house in Pasadena and it told me to do the same thing. Fortunately, I had my friend’s directions and followed those instead. This doesn’t bode well for this unit, especially for people traveling from the west into the Pasadena area.
Also, these past few weeks, it takes about a minute to acquire the GPS signal.
Fortunately, I haven’t had the “white screen” problem - yet.
I’ll contact TomTom to see if they can fix these issues somehow.

I borrowed a TomTom GPS unit from someone for my road trip to San Francisco a few months ago in July, and we loved it! I’m stoked because the TomTom ONE 3rd Edition Portable GPS is now selling at Amazon.com for $124.99 - and its eligible for free shipping!
I ordered one and can’t wait until it arrives.
Update 2007-11-21 1:39pm: Amazon sold out at the moment, but Target [online] has it in stock for $149.99. Still a good deal!
Update 3:11pm: J&R Music and Computer World is now selling it for $129.99, with free shipping. What’s going on with this item today?
Update 3:25pm: Okay, J&R Music and Computer World has sold out of them. Back to Target…
