I’m barely using my Tungsten E Palm PDA (organizer), so I’ve switched to Google Calendar and Remember The Milk. Fortunately, there wasn’t much to switch over — I’m not that swamped.
Or, my head isn’t cleared out and nothing has been written down for months. =/
Although I keep my email inbox at zero most of the time, I’ve been off the productivity wagon for awhile. I gotta get back to it. One foot after the other, right?
I finally spoke to Jeremiah (from CompanionLink) today.
What’s the issue? After the first sync, subsequent syncs prompt if I want to delete events from Palm Desktop, even when none of the data changed.
Jeremiah walked me through some steps to find out what was going on, and I ended up having to send some log files to him so the programmers could look at the issue. It’s sort of over my head, but I’m glad to help troubleshoot this weird behavior. He’ll be contacting me in a day or so after they check it out.
Oh, and Jeremiah’s cool, man. A few of them at their office have red Swingline staplers! (Sounds like someone has a case of the Mondays…)
No, I haven’t tried Google Talk yet. I did read Chris Pirillo’s commentary about IM clients, though, and I have to agree.
I use Gaim to connect to AIM, Yahoo, MSN, and Jabber servers. Oh yeah, I’m glad I can add Google to that list. Riiight.
I retweaked through the robots.txt files just now. I think everything is banned from my whole site, except my forums and blog. From those, I believe I only have Googlebot-Images banned from select folders that contain images.
Finally reading through Podz’s post on “Feeding the InfoVac” (talking about Google) and the article he linked to, I’m a bit scared. There’s some good points being served up. Any other thoughts on this? I think Podz is the only one just doesn’t trust Google. I know James is kind of in the middle, but loves the search engine. IO ERROR doesn’t like Google at all. What do you think?
Update: Harsh ban removed
For those search engine bots and whatever else obeys robots.txt, I’ve disallowed access to my whole server. I’ll do this for a month, to clear the cache, then re-enable access (except for any image directories). I’ll be better with this stuff in the future. (more…)
I saw EPIC 2014 two months ago, but it’s coming up again. James and Podz posted it, and apparently I haven’t posted it here before. So, here it is. Scary.
I’ve been reading Podz’s distaste with Google. I think it started with Blogger, because someone copied his website exactly. Content, layout, pics - everything. Google didn’t do anything for him, because they stated that they can’t do anything about it.
I don’t know if he had a problem with Gmail, but since he kept it at 5MB most of the time, he switched back to using his email account through his site.
Should I break as many ties with Google as I can? It’s not like A9, Yahoo, or MSN Search are lame - for the most part, Google has been really good with their search algorithms. However, is there a deeper motive? (more…)
I didn’t know about the Google adding a movie operator. That’s pretty cool! I wonder how I can get them to add a Screen It link, in addition to a link to the IMDB.
