Some of these maybe be old and/or outdated, but I still think they’re worth looking into. These posts won’t be as length since I’ve accumulated a lot of these over a period of a few weeks.

Firefox extensions new to me

Since I use Bloglines, I didn’t know of any easier way to subscribe to new feeds - until I saw LiveLines. Wow, amazing! ScreenGrab looks cool, too, so I’m writing that down here in case I’ll have need for it.

Firefox 1.5.0.1 officially released

Firefox just got updated to 1.5.0.1. If you haven’t gotten Firefox 1.5, I think it’s safe enough now. If you’re not sure how to update to 1.5.0.1, the picture below should help. (Note: You need to be running 1.5 in order to update this way. If you’re running an older version, you need to get the full installer.)

Top 10 tips to keep that new computer spyware-free

There’s an article at ZDNet outlining 10 tips to keep spyware off your system. However, I like what was stated at Lifehacker in response to it:

To be honest, if you’re following every step you should feel pretty safe. That said, following every step is going to take up a lot of your system resources and will probably really slow down most older (and even some newer) PCs. Just remember to practice safe surfing whenever possible, and when you’ve downloaded a questionable bit of data, give it a scan before you fire it up.

If you only stick to a few sites, and don’t stray to questionable ones, you should be safe without too much extra software. Other than Firefox, I don’t have too much else running (in regards to antispyware apps) because of this. Actually, NoScript wasn’t mentioned, and I think it’s great!

Bloglines Subscribe with Greasemonkey

Userscripts.org is a nice site for Greasemonkey scripts. I’m stoked because a script has made it easier for me to subscribe to Bloglines when a site has syndication feeds. (Golf clap: Kapil’s Korner)

When is Firefox 1.5 not like Firefox 1.5?

Kafkaesquí has finds a small quirk with Firefox 1.5 - extensions made for it doesn’t mean it’s made for it. :)

Performancing for Firefox

I just installed Performancing for Firefox. Pretty cool!

Performancing for Firefox is a full featured blog editor that sits right within Firefox. Just hit F8 or click the little pencil icon at the bottom right to bring up the blog editor and easily post to your Wordpress, MovableType or Blogger blogs.

I have my two blogs setup, and all the categories and post history show up just fine.

Gripes?

I’ve gotten used to writing from the WordPress interface, using the keyboard shortcuts for the different tags and whatnot. I’ve gotten used to not having to take my hands off the keyboard, so that’s been really efficient for me. So basically, I’m not sure if I’d completely switch over to using this plugin 100% of the time (especially if a post had to do with a lot of linking and lists). For the short quicker posts, I think this is very handy.

I’m not sure what else there is, but I’m pretty impressed, especially since it supports Blogger.com, Typepad.com, LiveJournal, WordPress.com, WordPress custom, and MoveableType custom. Isn’t this plugin part of what Flock was all about?

ABC News uses Firefox

Mom was watching ABC World News Tonight, and they were reporting on the game rating system. Afterwards, they were plugging their site, displaying a monitor with their webpage. It was running Firefox. Cool beans. :)

Recently used Firefox extensions

I think the more extensions you run, the more likely the startup of Firefox will be slowed down. So, since my fresh install of Firefox, these are the only extensions that remain my system:
