December Challenge

Jean Ma is a student at Pasadena City College. In her spare time, she takes photos (Flickr) and plays CS. Sometimes, she’ll blog.
I was in a pinch today because I had nobody lined up. Fortunately, Jean was home studying for her final on Thursday. She took a break and let me take some photos of her.
I wanted some leaves, which I knew she had, but the gardeners raked them up yesterday. So, I drove her to Javy’s house close by and took photos in his front yard instead. (With his permission, of course. Nobody was home.)
P.S. There’s two other photos of her on Flickr from today that she especially liked.
Carlo Castro is a placement coordinator with the Community Development Project at Public Counsel (Los Angeles). He’s also the only other Filipino there.
Carlo recently took it upon himself to improve his health and shed some pounds. When I told him about the December Challenge, he was down with it, especially because he wants to see how he looks now compared to before.
The following is fictional: “Unfortunately, he got scared of ivy, so I tried putting him behind bars, then hid him behind some bamboo reeds.”
Jordan Vena is a student at Azusa Pacific University, part of ReGeneration LA, and awesome drummer of Stratageme.
He came to our college group this morning and that beard is a new thing for him. Well, much more than what we’re used to. He’s one of the most animate people I know.
Pete Clark is a 3rd grade teacher at Anita Oaks School, a coach at Kare Youth League, and a Rio Hondo Prep Varsity Basketball coach. Sometimes, he’ll post photos to Flickr. He recently upgraded from a Canon PowerShot SD400 to a Canon PowerShot SD870 IS, so hopefully he’ll take photos more often.
After an all-day lounging session at home, I barely got these photos. We were at Andy Chang‘s house to watch “Live Free or Die Hard,” still waiting for some other friends. Since I took photos of his mom a few days ago, it’d be good to get Pete, too.
It also helps that he’s photogenic.
Barbi Appelquist is a Staff Attorney at Public Counsel (Los Angeles), working within the Community Development Project.
I was going to take photos of Shashi, but she had to reschedule. She recommended Barbi because she was all dressed for her baby shower in the afternoon.
The lighting came from the window a few feet to her right. I slightly increased the saturation, brightness and contrast.
