Slyck’s Guide to BitTorrent

People ask me how I download TV shows so easily. I’ve written about it before, so if you still don’t understand, maybe Slyck’s Guide to BitTorrent will help!

Quick File extension

I’m using Thunderbird instead of Gmail right now. (More about this later.) For now, I just had to write this out. Quick File is an awesome extension that I wish I would’ve seen before I purged and sorted 73MB-worth of emails (with lots of attachments). I’m not seeing much documentation, so basically, press Alt+Q, type the first couple letters of the folder you want to move the email message(s) to, choose it with your arrows, then press Enter. No need to use a mouse for this one - awesome. :)

New uTorrent user

I’ve switched from ZipTorrent to µTorrent. Scary looking, but it seems much better. I barely changed the settings. Beauty and the Geek S02E01, come to Bryan!

What can you do with Hamachi?

Hamachi - What can you do with it?

Hamachi success at public WiFi

I just had to document this: I’m at the Arcadia Public Library, and I’m connected to my home computer via Hamachi/Windows XP Remote Desktop perfectly. I came only to test it out, and to see how the speeds are. I basically feel like I’m at home, despite the chatter around me at the other tables. So much for a library being quiet, huh? Anyways, I’m stoked!

Protect yourself from check washing

I don’t know how often checks are being used, but this is a good read to help protect yourself from the practice of check washing. If anything, I think I’ll get a gel-based pen just for writing checks, as described throughout the article and conclusion. (Golf clap: Digg)

Bloglines Subscribe with Greasemonkey

Userscripts.org is a nice site for Greasemonkey scripts. I’m stoked because a script has made it easier for me to subscribe to Bloglines when a site has syndication feeds. (Golf clap: Kapil’s Korner)

Coldplay CD restrictions

I’m glad I don’t like Coldplay too much, because I’d hate to support a band/label that has so many rules you’re wondering what you’re buying. I’m dumbfounded by it. Hit ‘em where it hurts: their wallets. You just have to read it - “Coldplay’s new CD has rules: No MP3s, no DVD players, no car stereos

Itsa my birthday

It’s my birthday today. Wanna get me something? I need a new hard drive to replace my current old, bloated, and aged 60GB 5400RPM hard drive. (Yikes. Exactly.) Oh yeah, and a DVD burner, too. I’m lacking in a backup system. So…a Newegg gift certificate would be perfect! Just throwing this out there…couldn’t hurt, right? :) Whatever you give would be awesome - doesn’t matter, I’ll use it towards that. Oh yeah, I hope you had a merry Christmas!

When is Firefox 1.5 not like Firefox 1.5?

Kafkaesquí has finds a small quirk with Firefox 1.5 - extensions made for it doesn’t mean it’s made for it. :)
