Gotta give credit to Thomas Hawk’s inspiration when we were photowalking on my birthday.

When I revisited this subway, I had to do a similar shot.

Happy Easter

Matthew 28:18-20 (NIV) –

16 Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. 17 When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. 18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

You can read the Easter story from Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John.

*****

So, what are Easter eggs all about? They represent Jesus’ resurrection from the dead and God’s gift to us — salvation from sin. I’m not sure what purpose the bunnies serve. =/

Thank you for sacrificing Your Son, God.

Happy Easter, everyone.

The Party Button - literally

No joke. My friend, Brian Gaut, made this button.

You press it, then the blinds close, the lights dim, a strobe light in the kitchen starts to flash, a laser by the TV starts going crazy, and Haddaway’s, “What Is Love” plays.

Awesome.

Currently, there’s no protection if someone accidentally presses it. He needs to integrate a key next.

Where bikers play chicken

Where bikers play chicken

You can find this under the pier. The other side of the tunnel is the parking lot. I wanted a wide angle lens and then take a shot looking down the middle of the tunnel. But, the kit lens would be too slow at f/3.5 and I didn’t want to change it out while it was slightly misty.

Then, I eyed this perspective and took a couple shot. Arnold had me pose there for about a minute before I got fed up and continued on.

The title came to mind because I think only bikers can ride through here.

I love gritty shots, don’t you? I’m stoked I was able to make the 50mm work in this situation.

Speed up podcasts for free with foobar2000

A commenter (Freddie) was struggling with speeding up podcasts with Audacity. (See my how-to on speeding up podcasts with Audacity, version 1 and version 2.) Then, he found this article:

Time stretching [MP3s] and other audio” by Blake Tolbert

I haven’t tried foobar2000 — because I’ve only been into the Kevin and Bean’s podcast from KROQ lately — but it looks legit and much simpler.

Oh yeah, welcome the new blogger! He doesn’t have a contact page and his comment form is broken, so let’s send him some traffic so he could see a spike from my blog. :)

Post-processing — I love Lightroom presets. I used:

  • Sharpen - Landscapes
  • Creative - Direct Positive
  • General - Punch
  • Tone Curve - Strong Contrast

Received my DTV coupons

A week ago, I got my DTV coupons in the mail. (See DTV Answers.) They expire late in May, so I’ll wait until then (in case the current converter boxes improve).

If you got yours, when will you use them?

Changing email address

I’m finally moving on from bryan (at) btvillarin.com and switching entirely to me (at) bryanvillarin.com. I’ve made a forwarder, but I’ll phase that out after a month. I just hope that I changed my email address from all the various online services. ;)

As of today, Saturday, April 19th, 2008, I’ve stopped using bryan (at) btvillarin.com. That’s a relief.

Tiny Big Blue Bus

Tiny Big Blue Bus

A Big Blue Bus stop, somewhere by the 3rd Street Promenade where a Big Blue Bus store (or something), had a display window. And there it was, tiny and blue.
