Ignore and Block All Facebook Apps

I’m annoyed with all those Facebook applications. I barely have any in my profile because I’ve been ignoring all requests by hand. Not anymore.

Option 1: Ignore All Facebook Requests bookmarklet (Internet Explorer/Firefox)

Option 2: Block ALL Facebook Application (Greasemonkey Script for Firefox)

It’s still a toss up for me. I’m trying to figure out if I should keep my Facebook account. (Well, if it can truly be deleted is another issue.) For now, I will.

The sights of La Jolla

La Jolla (40/366)

This is one of many photos from the La Jolla photowalk. As of now, I have 13 photos processed, but there’s lots more to go. (See the La Jolla photowalk photoset)

Not quite a small mocha

"Small" Mocha (41/366)

I went to Panera Bread for the first time last Sunday. I ordered a small mocha with skim milk along with my sandwich. Insanity!

New elite photoblog

My friend, Brian Auer (Epic Edits Weblog) is one of seven amazing photographers that started the Fine Art Photoblog.

The Fine Art Photoblog is a unique website dedicated to collectors and admirers of fine art photography. The site is something of a mix between art gallery, photoblog, and search engine.

I aspire to join their caliber. They’re pretty much off the hook. :)

Playing catchup

Get ready for the bullet points!

  • Thursday was lackluster. It consisted of lounging and napping. We had band practice at Unchained Studios that night from 9pm to midnight.
  • Saturday was awesome. The La Jolla photowalk had a great turnout and it was all for Brian! (After three photowalks in the Los Angeles area, we owed him.) Seriously, he’s got such a big following and I’m glad I got the ball rolling. Now we need to cater to the Orange County photowalkers! (410+ photos, but now down to 343.)
  • Today after college group, we went to lunch at Panera Bread in Pasadena. (67 photos)
  • Also today, our band, Phantom Scream had our first show of the year at The Airliner. We had a good turnout. I took 32 photos before the show. Bill’s friend, Tina, took 161 photos during our show. Then I took 29 photos of the next band, Electric Children. (222 photos)
  • Lastly, I went to Andy’s for Chinese New Year dinner. Thanks to his mom for hosting it! (40 photos)

Total number of photos to go through from this weekend: 672 photos. Insanity!

Today’s show reminder

Are you in the LA area? Then come and listen to our newest music! 4:45pm at The Airliner in Lincoln Heights (Los Angeles). (It’s a little over a mile east of Dodger Stadium.)

Call or text me at 626-485-5484 if you’re coming!

Open purchases inside Best Buy before leaving

I saw this post about Best Buy from Matt Devino in the Canon DSLR User Group at Flickr and I feel compelled to repost it:

I just thought I should share this news with anyone considering buying a camera, any camera, from Best Buy.

On Feb. 2, I went into my local Best Buy in Burbank, CA and purchased a Canon 40D with the 28-135 lens kit. When I got home, I opened the box and inside was a 30D. The 30D was brand new. I tried to return the camera for the correct one and they refused. I contacted corporate and got all the way up to their Public Defender on their Executive Resolution team, just to have them say no 4 different times. Their excuse was that they never carried the 30D (so if anyone ever bought a 30D from Best Buy I would love to know about it).

Now Canon is involved and is taking it very seriously. Hopefully they will be able to resolve the issue and give me the correct camera. I just thought I should warn as many people as I can about this so you don’t end up in the same situation I did. Don’t buy from Best Buy, but if you do open your box in the store in front of an employee.

Although I pretty much avoid Best Buy, most of you are cool with them. So, if you’re going to buy something from there, please open it in-store to make sure you’re getting what you bought. That way, they can’t complain because it’s been in their “sight” the whole time. (You’ll have the added help of security cameras.)

La Jolla Photowalk Reminder

Hey all, I wanted to remind you that we’ve got a Southern California photowalk this Saturday, February 9th starting at 1pm. Who else will be there?

Plus, we’re still waiting to hear from Nate Ritter (50 Photos).

If you’re anywhere between Los Angeles and San Diego, hang out with us! (See Upcoming for event information)

Switched themes, less categories

Yesterday, I switched to a new WordPress theme because I wanted a better emphasis on my photography. I went from K2 to the DePo Skinny Theme. My latest Flickr photos are at the top now. Very cool.

*** If you’re not seeing this change or things look messed up, do a hard refresh in your browser. I think it’s Ctrl+F5 in Firefox. ***

Plus — or minus, depending on how you look at it — I’m purging extraneous categories. I was using tags a long time ago, but now I’m trying to minimize the number of categories. See the archives now? The category list isn’t as long as it was an hour ago. Yay! If you’re getting pings from old posts, feel free to delete them.

If you’re in the same situation that I’m in, WP-Cats rocks! I love that AJAX-y goodness.
