A new year, a “new” camera
I’m now a proud owner of a Canon EOS 6.3MP Digital Rebel Camera. Wicked!
It came with the Canon EF-S 18-55mm kit lens and a SanDisk Ultra II 512MB CompactFlash Card. (See DPReview.com for a thorough review)
I took Day 27 and Day 30 with my friend’s camera, which was the same model, but that doesn’t count. This is my first photo with this camera. My camera.
It was set to RAW, so I used UFRaw to open and import it into GIMP, then edited there.
I made slight touch-ups to his face, used a contrast mask, then finished by using a desaturated overlay on the color layer.
I’m not sure if I’ll continue shooting in RAW, although I probably should. It depends on if I get a 4GB card, rather than 2GB. I also need a camera bag and a UV filter for protection. Oh boy.
Thanks to a great deal from Arnold!
Happy Trevor?!
Edit: There was a slight problem with the flash and “Error 05″, but I got that fixed with some help from this forum thread (see post #15) and my friend, Roug.
