My concern with this shopping tactic, is how long can the retailer continue to remain open if the traffic coming through their door is only there to browse before buying somewhere else? For instance, what happens to a certain small music store if everyone just buys from musicians friend after they spend their time and ask their questions at our shop? The reason retail stores cost more is because of the service and overhead of running a quality business whereas online companies can get by with just a warehouse and incompetent employees, therefore, lower costs.

BUT... if you are going to buy online, checking things out in person first is not a horrible idea. In fact its a great idea. Just don't be surprised when you find it harder to find an actual physical store to check things out in.
