Comment and trackback spam no more?

Like I said earlier, I just upgraded to WordPress 2.1 a couple days ago. Since then, I haven’t seen any Akismet spam to delete or moderate. I’m not complaining, but just a little irked. Are comments getting through? I posted a test one, then promptly deleted it - that was fine. James sent me a trackback last night, so that’s fine. What’s going on?

I’m currently using the following antispam plugins:

Update February 2, 2007: After reading Tom’s post about the awesomeness that is Akismet 2.0, perhaps it’s the new “Automatically discard spam comments on posts older than a month” feature. Even with SK2 disabled, I still haven’t had to delete comment spam from Akismet. So basically, before 2.0, all the comment spam I was deleting was from posts older than a month. Crazy. Case closed, I guess!

All I’m using is Akismet and I have plenty to see in my moderation queue. Maybe it’s everything combined that’s doing the trick?

I’ve actually noticed an increase in spam starting yesterday, but Akismet has been catching all of it. I recommend that you try deactivating SK and RK for the week. I’ve been using only Bad Behavior and Akismet ever since Akismet was released and haven’t had a single problem.

Perhaps comment spam can’t compete with my level of awesomeness. :)
Kidding aside, I’ll try deactivating SK first, then perhaps RK.

Bryan,

that option in Akismet spectacularly cuts down on your Akismet queue. Like I said I went from >500 spam comments per day to about 20.
