Performancing ads to come, new theme?

If I can get a couple bucks from my blog, who am I not to take advantage of that? I’ll be putting some non-intrusive ads up, in hopes to generate a little revenue. (If Performancing can hook me up, why not?) I’m no A-lister, but it’s worth a shot.

I have yet to create a theme for myself, but only because I haven’t had the need to “reinvent the wheel”. There’s tons of WordPress 2.0 themes out there! I’m sure it’d mean much more if it came from me.

Any ideas or starting points on how to go about this? Let’s just say I have no clue with all this. Help!

Firefox 2.0 Final

Michael (Binary Bonsai) found Firefox 2.0 Final. Score. A day early.

Update: Apparently I wasn’t right in doing this. Okay, I guess for future reference, only get Firefox from GetFirefox.com. Oh well, whatever.

On a side note, writing this in FF 2.0 and Wordpress 2.0.4, I can’t use quicktags with keyboard shortcuts. (Alt+A: create link from selected text, Alt+B: make the selected text bold, etc.) I’ll make sure I download the real final version of Firefox tomorrow.

Update 2: It is really out now. [via Paul Stamatiou] Also, see the “Recommended Add-ons” page.

OXO LiquiSeal Click and Seal Travel Mug

Yesterday, I bought an OXO LiquiSealNew Blue Click and Seal 14-oz. Travel Mug. This morning, I went to Starbucks because I wanted to try it out.

  • I love the click and seal. Outside, I inverted the mug, and it didn’t spill a drop.
  • The rubber grip is great.
  • If you’re familiar with the standard Starbucks cup lid, it sometimes splashes out the breather hole. That wasn’t the case with this mug.
  • I didn’t keep my drink for more than an hour, but the temperature was good the whole time.

I recommend it. :)

Yay for more Moo Minicards

  • Thursday, 2006-10-12: Ordered 100-pack of Moo minicards
  • Tuesday, 2006-10-17: Order shipped
  • Saturday, 2006-10-21: Order arrived

My Moo minicards were shipped from the U.K. 5 days to print and 4 days in transit is pretty good, don’t you think? Don’t be jealous! (Then again, they’re probably quickening the pace.) I’m stoked because this time around, I wrote a self-description of what I [try to] do, and I didn’t forget my email address this time. :)

Tips:

  • If you have less than 100 photos you wanted to order, the ones you queue at the beginning will be printed more than once until the count reaches 100. So for me, I had 88 photos, and the first 12 were the ones I preferred to be made twice. (88+12=100)
  • I made a set in Flickr, ordered them the way I wanted, then drag-and-dropped them into the Moo website, one by one. Much better than hunting through the photostream within Moo website.

Happy networking!

Selling spare CD burner

I’m selling a Lite-On 52×32x52 internal CD burner. I built a computer for my dad in May 2004, and he quickly upgraded to a DVD burner a month later, so it’s been sitting here at home since then. It’s essentially new, including the box, manuals, screws, and Nero software.

Want it?

CompanionLink for Google Calendar troubleshooting

I finally spoke to Jeremiah (from CompanionLink) today.

What’s the issue? After the first sync, subsequent syncs prompt if I want to delete events from Palm Desktop, even when none of the data changed.

Jeremiah walked me through some steps to find out what was going on, and I ended up having to send some log files to him so the programmers could look at the issue. It’s sort of over my head, but I’m glad to help troubleshoot this weird behavior. He’ll be contacting me in a day or so after they check it out.

Oh, and Jeremiah’s cool, man. A few of them at their office have red Swingline staplers! (Sounds like someone has a case of the Mondays…)

Air mattress suggestions

I’m posting this here because I think I’d get more exposure here rather than at Bryan Off Topic. So sue me. :)

I sleep on a lame futon with a lame mattress that I bought at lame K-Mart. How can I get things done properly if I’m not sleeping comfortably?

So, can you please give me suggestions on a good sturdy air mattress? I’d need to use it on a daily basis. (No, I can’t get a regular bed - no room for it. One bedroom apartment.) I don’t mind going to a B&M store or ordering online and waiting a few days. I think the warranty is super important, especially if the thing turns out to be a piece of junk.

Thanks!

Firefox love from someone new

Last week, I clean installed Windows XP for someone’s home computer. It wasn’t a top-of-the-line computer, but it wasn’t old either. I made sure it was updated, then installed Firefox, OpenOffice, AVG Anti-virus Free, and SpywareBlaster.

She came in today asking for the website address for Firefox, because she was extremely pleased with how much faster Firefox felt compared to Internet Explorer. She even told a friend about it!

I’m pretty sure part of it had to do with the fact that the system was fresh, but I felt I had to share this - Firefox just isn’t mainstream.

Just hopped onto the del.icio.us bandwagon

The only purpose bookmarks have for me in Firefox is for frequent sites I regularly visit. I usually keep these in the bookmarks toolbar, below the address bar. I also have some keywords assigned so I don’t have to type the whole URL or click on the bookmark itself.

A few days ago, I figured I should just get a del.icio.us account and store my bookmarks there. If I didn’t feel like typing a full blog post about some new program or cool article, I could just tag it on del.icio.us.

Wow, what a relief! The del.icio.us extension works perfectly, so it’s easy to add new pages. Wicked!

I’m not sure if I’ll put a list of the latest links on the side, especially since I’m still weeding through my bookmarks and choosing which ones should be archived. (I did add a widget at Bryan Off Topic, though.)

Just visit my AllNarfedUp del.icio.us page and subscribe there! Some of the links might be old, but I’ll mix in some new ones, too. Bear with me while I convert to this new system. Enjoy!
