  1. As a Firefox user, and presumably Thunderbird – do you really find a need for these anti spyware programs? I like almost never use IE… since all the way back to Netscape 1.2!! I did run AdAware before I wrote this to make sure I knew what I was talking about. It found ONE thing, a tracking cookie for _suprise_ IE6. Of course a cookie it’s self won’t do any actual harm.

I suppose the sites one visits impacts your risk factor. I do some tech support on a personal level – the only computers I ever find with a virus are in homes with teens.

Do these programs often find much on your system? In some way, aren’t these just something to protect you from yourself?

  2. IMO, it’s good to keep these utilities installed on a system, updated and ready to scan at a moment’s notice. There’s definitely no one all-mighty utility, too, so they cover most of the issues out there.

It’s not just teens that have problems – it’s anyone unaware of what spyware really is (and how it’s just as bad, if not, worse, than viruses).

Nope. I’d like to think that I’m more meticulous than the average user.

    Huh?
