If you check a slew of websites, blogs, and online newspapers on a regular basis, you better be utilizing RSS. Chances are that they all have that method of syndication. I barely browse websites anymore, unless it’s a new one and I’m looking around.
Les Bain has written a really thorough tutorial about RSS. So if this is all Greek, head over there and see how much time you could be saving…use RSS! Oh yeah, see how he has 10+1 buttons that let you add his syndication feed to your preferred news aggregator? That’s probably a good idea to add on your own blog or website. You’ll see here that I’ve added NewsGator, Google, and Bloglines - I guess I have seven more to add!
I just exported my OPML file from NewsGator Online, and imported it into Bloglines. Hurray!
NewsGator Manager > Edit Locations > OPML (under NewsGator Web Edition)
Click the link, save the file to your desktop, change the file extension to .OPML, reimport into Bloglines.
My Feeds > Edit > Import Subscriptions (under Extras)
Today marks how long I’ve had this domain for - four years! I strayed away from the help site and forums, though, but I like this blog format anyways. Happy anniversary to me and whoever else has known me (via this site) for so long. Crazy!
I’m using iTunesKeys, which was referred from the article “How To: Fix iTunes” at Download Squad. There’s some other programs that’ll add even more functionality, but iTunesKeys was the one that hit home the most. Yay for being able to rate songs from my keyboard. ![]()
Why does RSS Bandit take forever to download the feedlist from NewsGator Online?
I’ve been using Newsgator for a few days now. It’s not bad, and it syncs with RSS Bandit. Anybody have any opinions between one and the other? (This one was written a month ago.)
Mom was watching ABC World News Tonight, and they were reporting on the game rating system. Afterwards, they were plugging their site, displaying a monitor with their webpage. It was running Firefox. Cool beans. ![]()
Get it. (Golf clap: Podz and TipMonkies)
I powered up my desktop system this morning, only to hear an odd sound (probably from the hard drive). When I looked at the monitor, a blue screen was smiling at me. I didn’t write down the error, but I’m convinced that this 60GB Western Digital (like my IBM Deskstar 120GXP) is about to bite the dust. I think I’ll be getting a new hard drive. Karen’s Replicator will be copying my files to a my laptop computer now… (Note: For the record, I’ve had the Western Digital hard drive for four years.)
If you have a firewall/router, you’ll need to open up some ports to speed ZipTorrent downloads. The program refers to this page, but not all routers are alike. The image below is for a D-Link DI-614+:
