Pingbacks didn’t seem to work with my previous host, but they are now! Thank you, AncientHosting! Shoot, I have to put a link to them here. *rushes off to find the image*
Todd Dailey cleared his iPod Nano’s scratches with Brasso. Four bucks, too! I don’t know why you have to have a case with it, especially since they market it to be able to slip into your pocket. Adding a case makes it that much bigger. Anyhow, the before and after photos should inspire you to go out and buy some of this stuff. I think I’ll spend some time using Brasso on my 3G iPod. I still think they shouldn’t scratch that easy. (Golf clap: Robert Scoble)
Sifting through my email-subscribed newsletters, I see that Steve Bass is now blogging. Now I’ll unsubscribe to his email list and keep track of his neat finds that way. Nifty! (PCWorld also has another blog titled “Techlog.” I’ll keep my eye on that one as well.
I’m on the new server. Reason: To reiterate, I’m getting hooked up with this. That’s all! ![]()
The TV was on, and ABC 7 news preview came up for 11am, talking about how headsets and earbuds might aid in hearing loss. Quickly I did a search and found an article from the Dayton Daily News, “Hearing loss sped by use of headsets.”
One sign that you’ve done damage to your ears is when you leave a loud venue with ringing ears.
Fortunately for me, I’ve been wearing Hearos noise reduction earplugs to prevent that when I’ve been going to concerts. My solution for this: get a bulk pack of earplugs from Guitar Center (or a similar store). I have a carrying case, so I don’t just use them once and throw ‘em away.
How much is too much? Audiologist Deanna Meinke provided a good rule of thumb: Listening to a portable music player with headphones at 60 percent volume for an hour a day is relatively safe.
Nope, not too many people will fall under this category if they have a personal music device. I highly recommend getting sound isolating earphones, such as the Shure E2c Earphones. I listen to music at a way lower volume because the outside noise doesn’t get mixed into the music. I listen to my iPod longer than that, that’s for sure.
I’m happy to say my hearing is still good, but that’s only because I’m taking some precautions. I know some friends that have sub-par hearing. I hope they don’t continue to worsen their hearing.
This is pretty huge. I’ll be moving hosts to my friend’s server, Eric, at Ancient Hosting. That’ll be in a few days. You shouldn’t notice anything out of the ordinary - I hope. However, his server isn’t managed by cPanel, so things might a bit tough for me in the transition. We’ll see how it goes. Bryan Off Topic will be the place to head to if I mess up somewhere.
I’m passing this deal on from Passwird Deals (Hi Irwin!) because of the iPod Nano issue with extreme scratches under not-so-extreme conditions. If I didn’t have an iPod right now, and had $206.99 to use, I’d snatch this up no questions asked.

O.F. Jay’s having problems with .htaccess. Can anyone help him out? I don’t know jack about that stuff. ![]()
Happy Discardia! Don’t worry, I won’t do this everytime this shows up. ![]()
I got a Golden Ticket from WordPress.com (from a friend, actually). So, I setup a blog over there. What about this one? I’ll focus more on technology-related content here, and more personal stuff at Bryan Off Topic. So, now you can choose what you want to read from me, rather than be forced the personal and techie stuff…right? ![]()
