Today marks a year from when I first started this blog. (This is a blog? I thought it was a website? What’s a blog? Reading the first paragraph there should suffice.)
If you see any positive difference with my posts now and the beginning, I’d love to hear them. If you could take a few minutes to write something, it’d help me reaffirm part of the reason why I have a blog. (Err, “weblog” - for Josh.) I’ll take constructive criticism, too. Otherwise, don’t bother.
Now then, inspired by Keith, I’m going to list a few things I’ve learned from blogging as well. (more…)
The Beauty of the Recurring Task
I think I’ll input more in my calendar. I haven’t been as disciplined lately with GTD, so I need to get back on track. Using recurring tasks frees up my task list so it just has one-time tasks that need to be done. (more…)
Update 8/21/05: You can unmerge your Flickr and Yahoo ID by just contacting the Flickr staff through their email form. They were quick about it, too.
I merged my Flickr account and Yahoo ID together, and now my Konfabulator Picture Frame widget can’t get my Flickr images. Wait before merging your account (if you haven’t already) so Arlo et al at Pixoria can make the changes in the widget.
Irwin posted yesterday that the Brother PT-65 labeler is on sale at Amazon for $14.99! If you don’t have a labeler, and you’re changing your life with GTD, get it! The only downside is that you need to use 4 AA batteries, and you can’t use an AC adapter. I’ve heard the batteries should last a year with moderate use. I bought mine for more at a B&M because it wasn’t on sale at the time with a label tape refill.
I’m going to adapt the method of writing short emails by simply keeping the message within the subject and ending with (EOM). Some people might not understand me at first, but they’ll figure it out and see that they won’t have to open the entire email. I haven’t heard of EOM until today. (Golf clap: 43 Folders, despite the fact that the weblog post had to do with Quicksilver)
Hate having to pull out your audio device just to change the volume? Now you can add volume control to your favorite earphones/headphones! I’m sure this has been around for a long time, but I thought it’d be worthy of posting anyway. Fortunately for me, my scroll wheel on my iPod is easily accessible as is, so it’d be overkill for me. Mel posted a bunch of links pertaining to travel and packing stuff. I’m going to look through a few of these because I’ll be taking a short-distance 3-day trip on Labor Day weekend, and I hate it when I have too much stuff to carry into our hotel/motel.
I was talking to a Dell Tech Support representative about a system here at work today, and while the system was downloading and updating stuff, I was basically shooting the breeze with him. It was actually pretty awesome! I asked him about troubleshooting hardware and software (beyond memory and the hard drive). (more…)
