Free Opera registration code

If Firefox ever goes sour, I think I’d turn to Opera - and at least I won’t have to worry about ads with a free registration code Opera is handing out. Nice! Note: You have until midnight (Pacific Standard Time) Tuesday, August 30th. (Golf clap: Chris and Podz)

Summer winds down

Other than checking email, I’ve basically been off the computer for the past few days. I’ve been working all summer, and now that my boss at work is back from his vacation, I’m sort of on my own vacation. I didn’t go anywhere, but I’m just relaxing at home (and with friends). Once everything gets [...]

Zotob might attack Windows XP

I came across this InformationWeek article “Symantec: Zotob May Be Modified To Attack Windows XP” today. Basically, Symantec recommends you apply this patch. It only takes 2 minutes (on a Windows XP machine). Better safe than sorry! Ooh, since the patch has to do with Plug and Play, maybe you should just disable it with [...]

Google Talk

No, I haven’t tried Google Talk yet. I did read Chris Pirillo’s commentary about IM clients, though, and I have to agree.
I use Gaim to connect to AIM, Yahoo, MSN, and Jabber servers. Oh yeah, I’m glad I can add Google to that list. Riiight.

Mr. Ink Man

I’ve been with Mr. Ink Man since at least April 26, 2002. Nice company - check ‘em out!

Shredded like crazy

I didn’t go to work yesterday to take care of some school stuff (and something else that shall remain nameless until it’s over with). In between “appointments”, I was at home working at my desk on all the stuff that’s accumulated. I have a single drawer for Letter-sized hanging files. I’m supposed to go through [...]

How do timesheets work?

I had a long conversation with my mom tonight. The main one had to do with timesheets. I was able to explain to her that 4:30 (4 hours and 30 minutes) equals 4.5 hours. But when she sees 4.10 hours, she can’t understand that it means 4:17 (4 hours and about 17 minutes). I tried [...]

Forum registrations from Russia?

Question: I’m getting a lot of registrations in my forums from Russian domains. What gives? Should I ban these? Any suggestions? (Thanks!)

Remote Palm Hotsync?

Question: Is there a way to Hotsync my Palm Tungsten E remotely so I don’t have to open it, wake it up, and tap the “Favorite” button?

How to check for software updates?

Other than Windows, how do you check for updates for your installed programs? I can think of two ways: mailing lists and syndication (RSS) feeds. I wish SourceForge had RSS feeds for the files section for the different software projects. In any case, are there better ways I haven’t learned about?
