Ad-Aware SE not free?

I just installed Ad-Aware SE Personal 1.05 on my laptop, and it says 1.06 is out. Lavasoft, however, doesn’t seem to show the personal edition any longer. But, Majorgeeks and the Lavasoft download page (I guess) say otherwise. What gives?

nLite 1.0 beta 4

I’m going to be using nLite 1.0 beta 4 (with quite a bit of customization in the setup) to clean install Windows XP on my laptop. If that goes well, I’ll basically do the same at home (of course creating another nLite CD for that system). I’ve put it off for awhile on both systems, but I think they’re due.

Tech support businesses on the rise

Going back a couple days into Slashdot posts, I saw “Tech support businesses on the rise.” Reading through some of the replies makes me wonder if certain things I’m doing are right and wrong, in terms of this so-called side business of mine.

Am I charging enough? Am I making it worth my while? Should I be doing it?

Do you have any thoughts about Geek Squad and others? If I’ve helped you, how do my strengths help you look for me when you’re in need? I’m just thinking out loud, and looking for feedback of some sort. Ooh, I should at least make a services page here, huh?

Which Flickr account?

I don’t take pictures too much, but if I get a Flickr Pro Account, do you think I’ll make it worthwhile? (Can I pay to keep more of my photos on Flickr?) Argh, decisions, decisions.

Desktop Ruler

Desktop Ruler was mentioned today by Steve Bass. The snipped URL didn’t work, so I hope the direct link to the website is the correct one. I just realized what you could use it for. If you have a wide screen, and the text travels the length of it, it’s hard to keep track which line you’re supposed to be on. So, that’s where the ruler comes in. I get it!

Pictionary fun

I know it’s already Wednesday, but I’m going to talk about Saturday evening. I won’t talk about the morning and afternoon, because it was our boys’ awards breakfast and concession in the afternoon. But the evening brought about some excitement. Sort of. (more…)

Free USB Flash Drive from IBM

Free USB Flash Drive from IBM: “Thank you for registering. Thank you for ordering your complimentary memory key. We’re sure you’ll find it full of insights and information. Your memory key will be on its way to you shortly.”

Irwin, if I get this, and you’re ever in my neck of the woods, I’ll have to hook you up with a bite to eat or something. :)

Make a life poster with freeware

I posted links to guides on how to create a life poster with iPhoto and Photoshop. I don’t have a Mac or Photoshop, so I couldn’t do it. I’m an idiot because Lifehacker linked to a guide that does the job with XnView - four months ago!
