EPIC 2014

I saw EPIC 2014 two months ago, but it’s coming up again. James and Podz posted it, and apparently I haven’t posted it here before. So, here it is. Scary.

Become an early riser

I think my sleep habits are lame. After skimming through “How to Become an Early Riser“, maybe they’re not so bad. I think I just need to make sure I don’t just turn the clock off and lie back down in bed - that’s my terrible habit sometimes. I’ll let you know how it goes, assuming I try this out. Still not sending pingbacks

You know how I upgraded to WordPress 1.5.1.1? Well, I still can’t send pingbacks. I think I’m giving up on trying to get that fixed. What’ll I do? Just use trackbacks exclusively. I don’t know what else to do, especially since this should just work.

Jared gaining weight?

Is Jared, Subway’s spokesperson, gaining weight? Anthony thinks so. Can anyone dig up some before and after pictures? (I don’t know if you call him a spokesperson. Endorser, perhaps?)

Awesome chess tips

I think I’ve played 3 quick chess games in the past 5 months. I’m a bit fascinated with it, especially since it’s a complicated game. However, if I can get myself to read through these chess tips and techniques, I might like to play more often. (Golf clap: Forever Geek)

Handwriting tips

These handwriting tips caught my eye, because I don’t think my handwriting is any good. I hate writing, and love typing. I’d like to be able to write legibly quickly and effortlessly - a quality I can’t say I have at the moment. I’ll give it a go. (Golf clap: The Indiana Jones School of Management)

Take care Moose

Craig (NuclearMoose) left the internet. He’s right in basically all his statements about WordPress. I don’t frequent the forums, except for an occassional problem.

…a pause and retooling of the WordPress community resources are long past due.

If Matt Mullenweg, Ryan Boren, Dougal Campbell, and any other WordPress developers have been ignoring whatever suggestions Craig has been making, I hope they don’t continue to do so. If they haven’t been ignoring them, but just don’t know what to do, I think it’s fair if they can at least comment something about it. It’s more for whoever steps in to take Craig’s place - I’d hate to see them get so overwhelmed that they leave as well.

WordPress information is really scattered. People need to use the resources the community has setup already - the Codex and Plugin Repository - and limit their blog to, at the most, plugin and theme updates.

Diane commented about this, and I think it fits perfectly.

Crest White Strips

Mom on Crest White Strips: “18 months? I wouldn’t want to buy something that’d take 18 months to work.” Then I clarify it for her. “Oh.” Hahaha!

Finally normal?

Update 2: Rob replied to my post in his forums…

Although our eMail was working just fine, DNS Report said “it could not connect” which was true. That site had been temporary blocked as, for whatever reason, too many attempts were made using DNS Report to check our site. The Server thought it was an eMail Dictionary attack and temporaryly blocked the site from eMail access.

So there you go, other than sending pingbacks, everything is fine. :)

Update: Spoke too soon. This morning, it’s back down. My host’s domain, too. I posted in his forums about it.

I hope this is the last time I have to talk about this here. I finally just set my mail server up to the same IP address, and let it sit there. I come back later today, and DynDNS tech support says it looks like things are basically fine. Checking with DNS Report, sure enough - my mail server is responding! I’m now a bit closer to ditching Gmail.
