Pros And Cons Of Firefox

Langa Letter: The Pros And Cons Of Firefox (Update: Here’s Tom’s rebuttal - make your own decision, everyone! I’m still going to recommend Firefox.)

Google is scaring me

Finally reading through Podz’s post on “Feeding the InfoVac” (talking about Google) and the article he linked to, I’m a bit scared. There’s some good points being served up. Any other thoughts on this? I think Podz is the only one just doesn’t trust Google. I know James is kind of in the middle, but loves the search engine. IO ERROR doesn’t like Google at all. What do you think?

Essential Web Development Links

Essential bookmarks for web designers/developers (Golf clap: Gadgetopia)

Intouch

Intouch is a plugin for WordPress which allows you to insert a custom build contact form, which on submission will send the information via email.” Apparently, this was built off WP-ContactForm, so I might switch to using this instead. More customization, more power! (Golf clap: Blogging Pro)

Unstoppable Copier

Unstoppable Copier looks like a good find. So, I’m posting it here for future reference (of course).

This program is great for recovering files from scratched CD’s or defective floppy/hard disks. Normally when your computer is unable to copy a file from a damaged disk it will abort and delete the portition of the file it has copied. This program however will continue to copy the file right to the end.

All bots banned

Update: Harsh ban removed

For those search engine bots and whatever else obeys robots.txt, I’ve disallowed access to my whole server. I’ll do this for a month, to clear the cache, then re-enable access (except for any image directories). I’ll be better with this stuff in the future. (more…)

WordPress Email Notification Plugin

The WordPress Email Notification Plugin looks really fascinating. For another WP site I’m running, where the majority of people probably aren’t using RSS readers, they might appreciate me adding this to the site. (Golf clap: Prissed in the WP forums)

Cron job change

Note to self: Using wget for the cron job to check /wp-admin/update-links.php hourly, rather than GET from the last server. It’s to keep my blogroll updated with the latest update times.

Piggy Bank

The Piggy Bank Firefox extension looks very intriguing…

Steve Pavlina

I don’t exactly know who Steve Pavlina is, but his writings look very interesting. Add him to my blogroll, I will. I’ll be going through his site later.
