If I say “blog”, people ask me: “What is a blog?” I have no idea what say without them zoning out or losing interest. “Reverse chronological order” is a mouthful. “Um, it’s a just website that’s easier to write to, like a journal. The difference is that the latests posts are at the top. The cool thing is that you don’t need to know a bunch of code, that’s why it’s so awesome.” Does that sound simple enough?
I was trying to explain blogs to someone the other day, which led me to blogging about blogs, just as you’re bloggin’ about blogging in this post. However, while your explanation is correct, I wasn’t able to express the definition as clearly — there’s just so much to say….

Thanks for the link, Lucas. I’m hoping that the way I explain it is best. It’s short and sweet.
However, if they ask why they’re so good, then you can throw a longer explanation at them. Personally, I don’t think anyone can handle a huge explanation in one bite - you know, the linking power, pingbacks, RSS, etc. You have to feed most people the pros of blogs bit by bit, and then they’ll see the power of blogs.
