New Jabber user
I have a Jabber account now. It took awhile to figure it out, but with a little help from Dan, we’re good to go. For Gaim, you need to pick an open Jabber server, jot it down, then enter it in the Server field when registering/adding an account.
Your “screenname” is in the format of your email address: username@jabber.org. So, when you try to IM someone or add them to your buddy list, that’s how you’ll need to type it. Since usernames can be registered on more than one server, the format needs to be like this, as opposed to AIM where all screennames are on one server.

- Get notified when you get added to someone’s buddy list
- Receive IMs when you get back online (I think)
- It’s something new
If you need more clarification how to register and connect, let me know. Oh yeah, and if you do decide to get a Jabber account, let me know what your new “screenname” is, unless you don’t want me to know.
