AIM pwns j00

Please read this update.

“AIM pwns j00″ is leet speak.

After reading Podz’ post (and the links from it), I think AIM went too far. Basically, anything communicated over their IM servers is theirs to share. I know it’s their software and their service, but if the users don’t have any rights to their conversations, then forget it. Not everyone reads Slashdot, but it’ll be people like me that’ll spread this.

My take? I’ll either IM all the people I know and pass this along, or I’ll setup an away message linking to this for a few days before breaking ties off from AIM.

Please leave comments. This is a big thing, especially since I’ve had my screenname for so long. I’ll need to find another IM service that people can be willing to switch to. Any useful insight that can help me out will probably get this post updated. If you’ll do the same, pass the link to this post to your friends (the title of the post is the link as well).

I read that yesterday on /.. Didn’t think much of it, but if you want, you can switch Jabber.

Is it worth switching? Not really. Why? Because first of all the effort would be too great. Second of all AIM is simply the best client out there (IMO).

Also I’m not very sure there is anything I could say that they would be intrested in, and even if there was would they ever see in between the millions of other accounts? I highly doubt it.
