This is a bit geeky, but I feel worth mentioning if you care about validation in WordPress 1.5. Problem? If a URL has an ampersand (&) in it, it won’t get escaped properly, thus breaking validation. Priyadi found a bug and has a fix. It’s a single line to add, so it’s very simple. (Golf clap: Blogging Pro)
Sort Bookmarks 0.6.0 is being kind of weird. Upon clicking “Sort by Name” in the main menu, Bookmarks Synchronizer 1.0.1 comes up instead. Right-clicking on any bookmark will sort that folder only. Also, I can’t sort in bookmark manager. *sigh*
You need to get Firefox 1.0.1. It’s supposed to be more stable and fixes some security issues. I told one of my friends about Firefox last week, and he brushed it off. When a few of us went out for dinner tonight, he told me he’s starting to like it. Now to get him to try out WordPress.
I haven’t heard of BlogShares until the other day, and I figured I’ll try to get into it a little. Does anybody I know have a premium account? Is it really that beneficial? Perhaps I should get one if I get hooked - I got into a buying frenzy earlier today, and now I have to wait until tomorrow to do more transactions. Any opinions on BlogShares?
I’m trying out Matt’s Asides, utilizing this guide from randomlog. This entry’s look might change a bit, because I might need to change the CSS. Update: All done. Thanks Steve!
Update: Solved. Refer to WordPress Update Links Solved.
There’s quite a few blogs in my blogroll that haven’t shown up as updated, when I know they have been. Why? I don’t know. It looks like my blog is showing up fine on anybody that links to me, so that’s a relief.
Under Options > Writing > Update Services, I added http://www.blogsnow.com/ping just in case. I don’t remember why I did that, but I did and it works for me.
It’s good to be back home. It’s not another sunny day, but it’s good nevertheless.
I turned on my computer, checked here and Gmail, and found 223 spam emails plus 5 comments to be moderated. No Gmail false positives, and only one comment wasn’t spam - the rest were. I’m happy the Wordpress 1.5 comment spam countermeasures are working, thanks especially to MacManX’s large blacklist. I had a couple emails through my contact form, but thankfullly nothing urgent.
How was camp? Snowy. It snowed for basically four days straight. It was truly a winter wonderland, and everything looked majestic. The trees were covered with so much snow! I took a few pictures, but I couldn’t get any of myself. I was pretty scared to take my camera out into the snow. Others did, only because they had umbrellas to protect their precious investments. Jon (not this one, another) took one of me with one of my boys, so I’ll try to get that from him sometime soon.
We didn’t go to Mtn. High until yesterday. The conditions on Saturday weren’t good, so Sunday was much better. I didn’t do too much snowboarding - only about 1 1/2 hours. I’m a wuss, I know! My ankles were hurting, though. I really wish I could take some professional lessons, because I don’t know the right way to do it. After I got back to camp, I ended up taking a two-hour nap, and that felt really good.
All my stuff is pretty damp, including some books I took up there to try and study. All in all, everything and everybody got back home safely. I’m glad things seem to be in order back here at home - well, at least with this site and all my friends’ sites.
There were quite a few items in my newsreader, but I don’t think I can catch up with all of them. I hope nobody gets mad - I’m not too significant in the WordPress blogosphere, so it prolly doesn’t matter.
What’s on tap this week? Baseball season is starting up at Kare, so Sportline will be converting to baseball equipment. I’ll be having to press a lot of jerseys. I’m also building a powerhouse PC for a customer and a really great guy. At work, we should be finishing the move to the new building. I’ll take some pictures as I go along. I also need some ideas for personalization to make my office…mine.
Friday will be my most busy day this week. At work, we’re finishing the move by transporting the computers across the street and plugging them in. I’m stoked that Jordan and Renzo are helping me out. I have pictures I took on Wednesday, and I’ll try to take a couple in the morning of us working. Why? Because I’m goofy. After RHLA meeting and a late lunch, I’ll be going to Mount Kare for the weekend with the Jr. High boys.
I originally saw “Free Music from Napster” posted on Monday, but “Burning through Napster’s collection, free” was posted back on February 4th. So this has been going on for 13 days now! For the record, the first link is better because you could convert straight to MP3 rather that burning CDs (if you have an MP3 player already).
And over at iPodlounge, it doesn’t seem like Napster cares much: Apple, Napster in spat over music security
