Update: Yes! It’s working again!
The following two things aren’t major issues. I accidently deactivated the Update Linkroll plugin. I’m hoping that’s why the last 9 updated blogs on the right hasn’t been changing the past 3 days. I’ve activated it in hopes that some things will go back to normal.
I’m trying out w.bloggar at work now, seeing if it’ll publish right when I tell it to. Advanced Post Options is set to Use Current Date and Time. I’m not pinging any servers because I’ll be editing this a few more times.
The notes below are in the order of testing I took. Do I really need to go through so much just to get a post published?
Current conclusion: I’m going back to typing posts through my Admin control panel. It’s fine, whatever.
Update: Please read this. I’m not using w.bloggar anymore, as of build v4.00.0191.
Have you ever lost your PDA? I did. I tried to retrace my steps from a meeting I had at work Friday morning. I was 100% sure I brought it with me after work that day. But since it was raining all weekend, I didn’t have to rely on it until Monday. Scary thing was I didn’t see it at home, nor did I see it in my desk at work (just to be safe). Since I was playing PS2 at Jordan’s house on Saturday, I tried to see if I left it there as well - but it wasn’t.
People tell me that if the forums aren’t broke, don’t fix it. They may not be broke, but they’re outdated versions of IPB. I’m definitely not sure if they’re open to hacking. However, I’m liking the speed and simplicity that WordPress has brought me. Speaking of speed, I’m really leaning towards switching the forums over to PunBB. Why? This is why.
I have a feeling my friends that do frequent the forums might not like this. Until I get more feedback, I’ll be trimming the fat from the forums. Here’s some tasks I’ll be going through:
The first two items won’t be done until tomorrow night around 8:00pm PST. In any case, could you please give me some of your thoughts on this between now and then? Thanks!
Flyakite OS X makes Windows XP look like Mac OS X. It’s looks awesome, and I love how it easily made Windows XP look a lot like Mac OS X. I don’t have a Mac to compare, but using this makes me wish I actually had a Mac. I even renamed My Computer to “Finder” and moved the taskbar to the top of the screen. Thanks to Dan for pointing this out in the forums - you rock!
The WordPress Plugin repository was finally announced today. I’m really stoked because if WordPress developers utilize it to work on their plugin(s), it can help maintain a centralized location.
Michael doesn’t like the interface, and I agree. It’s kind of difficult to find the plugins unless you the type to mess with things (like I am). At least the WP developers know about it and are going to work on it.
I’ve written a few notes about the new site for those who have no idea where to go. Hopefully I’m right on some of the items!
Note: Sorry if I’m preaching to the choir (those who visit here regularly and already use Firefox), but I feel the need to keep pushing this. I’m just trying to prevent as much harm as possible to the people I and readers I care for.
In the case of this latest news item “IE Plagued by ‘Extremely Critical’ Flaws“, the last two statements stood out for me:
Security firm Secunia has released an advisory warning that the holes are “extremely critical” and recommends users dump IE and use an alternative browser.
“Although hundreds of millions of dollars have been spent on securing SP2, perfection is impossible. Through the joint effort of Michael Evanchik and Paul from Greyhats Security a very critical vulnerability has been developed that can compromise a user’s system without the need for user interaction besides visiting the malicious page,” Secunia warned in a statement.
Out of my local circle of friends, I was one of the first to get an iPod. At first, I couldn’t understand why anybody would like to carry around so many songs at one time. What’s wrong with CD players? You can always make a mix whenever you felt like it. Who would want the ability to have between 5,000 to 10,000 songs on hand?
15 months later, I’m loving it. My iPod has given me so much more freedom from my computer or car, which is where I’d listen to music. I could listen to it anywhere if I needed to pass the time. Yeah, it isolates you, but if you’re alone anyways and you don’t want to bother everyone else that’s around you, how much more convenient is that?
Southern Californians aren’t used to rain like this, because we’re getting hammered right now. It’s been awhile since we’ve gotten rainfall like this - makes it tough to want to do anything today, especially something that requires going outside. You see Arcadia? Yeah, that’s where I am. Yikes.
