A Trendy Name back online

A Trendy Name was down for quite sometime last week. I feel bad for Chris Lin, especially since he had to get all his posts back from last September - by hand. It stinks that his last backup was so far back, but I’m glad it’s all up. His design is awesome!

On a good note, I try to backup my whole site at least once a week, and my databases more frequently if there’s a lot of posts in the forums or I’ve written a bunch of entries here. I’m happy to say that if something ever happens, I’m comfortable. I’m sure my host won’t go bad - I’ve been with him for about 16 months, and he hasn’t let me down. :)

Ah the wonder of backups -you never think you’ll need them, until you REALLY need them!

Indeed, my blog had a minor blip a while back when my hosts usually reliable database server got corrupted and I lost a few days (of unusually active) blogging and ended up restoring by hand.

Now I use the Wordpress Backup plugin religiously!

Which plugin was that? The WP 1.2 One-Click Backup?

Thanks for making a post about me, I feel special. :D

I use cron jobs now to make a mysql dump on my site and then I use a download manager to download the file everyday.

Yes Chris - you are. :) I hope you could write a little something about how you do that. It sounds like it’d be a big help for a lot of people (myself included). ;)

I haven’t had a mishap yet … *crosses fingers*

I don’t backup that often. Maybe once a month, if that. Though I know that I should make a habit of backing up site files.

@Anth: Attaboy! :)

@Ria: Can’t be too sure! Backup the stuff that changes more often. I think the database would be the one to backup the most. Probably the wp-content folder, too.
