Quick Firefox Tip: Searching

For the 45.8% people that visit here and use Firefox, a quick tip (mainly because I haven’t posted anything that relevant lately). Doing quick searches doesn’t take moving your mouse all over the place. It’s a time saver, and every little bit helps.

F6: Moves cursor to address bar, where you can just type your search terms if you’re feeling lucky.
Ctrl+K: Moves cursor to search bar, where you can type your search terms and get the regular listing on Google.

Oh yeah, pressing Ctrl+Enter in almost any browser will add the www. and the .com for you. Type the word, then press Ctrl+Enter. (Sorry, I still see people do this sometimes.)

Lastly, back to Firefox, Shift+Enter will add the www. and the .net for you. Example: Try typing PhotoMatt, then using Shift+Enter. ;)

I’ve been utilizing the shortcut alt-d to get to the address bar…and then if I need to search, I simply tab over once. I find this a lot easier…because your fingers are already right by the alt-d keys and it’s quicker (at least for me :))

I use Alt+D as well, but some websites use that as an access key, which is why I wrote F6 originally. ;)
