For the 45.8% people that visit here and use Firefox, a quick tip (mainly because I haven’t posted anything that relevant lately). Doing quick searches doesn’t take moving your mouse all over the place. It’s a time saver, and every little bit helps.
F6: Moves cursor to address bar, where you can just type your search terms if you’re feeling lucky.
Ctrl+K: Moves cursor to search bar, where you can type your search terms and get the regular listing on Google.
Oh yeah, pressing Ctrl+Enter in almost any browser will add the www. and the .com for you. Type the word, then press Ctrl+Enter. (Sorry, I still see people do this sometimes.)
Lastly, back to Firefox, Shift+Enter will add the www. and the .net for you. Example: Try typing PhotoMatt, then using Shift+Enter. ![]()
Get Acrobat Reader 7. Now. You won’t need Adobe Reader SpeedUp anymore. (Thanks Chris Pirillo!)
I was at a friend’s house for most of the afternoon yesterday, mainly chillin’ and testing out his brand new Philips DVD player (with Divx support).
My Dell Inspiron 1100 needs a new AC adapter. The wiring has gotten too stressed, and I have to jiggle for 10 minutes before I get a good connection. Can someone find me one less expensive than through the Dell website? Thanks!
We came back yesterday afternoon early around 4:30pm. We were supposed to play snow football, see some post-Christmas lights in Alta Loma, then return home later in the evening. However, the snowing got really crazy and we had to leave from camp ahead of schedule.
I’m going to be at a camp with a bunch of college students in Wrightwood, CA. I’ll be back Tuesday evening. See you when I get back!
I hope everyone has a great Christmas with their families and friends…I know I will! Please reflect the real reason why we celebrate Christmas. Remember the greatest gift of all…Jesus.
Oh yeah, I upgraded WordPress to 1.2.2 finally. All is secure again.
I have an idea for the Firefox community! I was reading the New Year’s resolution for Firefox to grow, and got to thinking. If every Firefox user could donate at least $5, seeing how there’s been 10 million downloads, they could have $50 million to use for a superbowl ad during the game! Then again, I don’t know what population group that targets exactly. So, maybe it wouldn’t be a good idea. I don’t know…
Edit: After doing a quick search, it seems that a 30-second ad would cost about $2.25 million(?)
I started my new job yesterday at Public Counsel in Los Angeles. Driving from Arcadia today was remarkably nice, however it won’t be after the holidays are over.
Basically, my position here is to be the main IT person for troubleshooting whatever problems come up. “My email isn’t working. The printer is jammed. We need more toner.” You know, things like that.
